We have several drinking fountains in our plant they are GFCI protected the question do the receptacles that are mounted above or nearby need to be
GFCI? I am unable to find a specific code that calls this out for industrial applications

The receptacle for the drinking fountain is required to be GFCI protected, any other receptacles in the vicinity would only require GFCI protection if their location calls for it in 210.8.

If you want to make the assumption that a drinking fountain is also a sink, then a receptacle that's within 6 feet needs GFCI protection if it falls into the 210.8(B) description.

Correct. A GFCI is required for a water fountain, I was just positing if you would need one for adjacent receptacles.
