(And on more careful review, I'm not sure who Celtic is responding to ...)

I see the confusion now.... I was disagreeing with Dennis' disagreement of Mike's comment.

I think we are all on the same page ...I just wish I could that dam graphic:mad:

I stand corrected-- on rereading 210.23 (A)(2) it appears to permit lighting. Julie I knew you could put toilet seats, towel warmers etc. but I was unaware that lighting was allowed. Most of us use 14 wire for lighting anyway but for those who still use 12 gauge I guess you can do it. I don't like it but I don't write the codes.

See, yet another good reason to only use #12's

(Ducking, running, and hiding!)

"...yet another good reason..."

LOL

In this case it is a requirement.

I'll let you slide on this one Julie....but we're keeping an eye on you :D

You have two choices for a bathroom (blah, blah, etc., etc.):
I hate it when I decide to read a thread that had already gotten long before I was aware it existed, and while reading I get ready to make the ?pronouncement from the seat of all wisdom? that will settle the discussion once and for all, only to discover that someone else has already posted that same answer (though perhaps not from the same ?seat of all wisdom?).

You win this one, Mike. That's one Attaboy for you. :)

...and here's a sign you can proudly carry:

(That's my newly coined catch phrase)

Wow, that's cool. Leave a comment, come back the next day to discover I won an argument I didn't know I was having, got an attaboy and became Esteemed. And in the process learn that Julie has a disco ball and heated toilet seat in her bathroom.

Damned fine day's work.

Now that the broken furniture has been removed, the chairs righted, the floor swept and a little sawdust spread on the blood, y'all come back in and have a drink on me.

LOL, reminds of this:

Guy #1: Let's settle this outside
Guy #2: OK
Guy #1: You go out first, if I'm not there in a minute, start without me.

:D

No, it's only a requirement to run #12 to the bathroom receptacles.

If he ran a #12 to where he was going to feed the bathroom light, he could have come out of the switch j-box with another #12 and started hitting GFCIs. But if he started with a home run of #14 to feed the light, because he's a cheap fart, he wouldn't have that option.

I thought that's what we were talking about:
What can go on the bath circuit?

In a residential setting, the bathroom outlets must be fed with a 20 A circuit. And according to the NEC (I can't think of the number) this "can have no other outlets". But, the exception says that if the circuit serves only one bathroom, the circuit can supply other outlets in that bathroom. Isn't this correct?

I dunno....it's Friday, is everyone happy?

Imho

Imho

 this thread is one more example why pictures are better than words when describing details of words, ie outlets, etc,

we need a power point for this...... YRAH....

i find reading lots of posts can be very tiring,,,, and sometimes beneficial, lol

but, what do i know, im a rookie at this, but its better than watching tv....

I'm not. I'm struggling to get over bronchitis and the house I was supposed to wire tomorrow in New Orleans has already been done, so I have no excuse to go pester my father and kid brother and create havoc on Bourbon Street.

I want to go out and have a beer or three, but there's this small matter of not wanting to cough all over everyone. My stupid cat won't leave me alone because she thinks I should quit work and play with her all day.

She's right, you know.

At one time, cats were worshipped as gods, and they've never forgotten it.

We have five cats right now. Why? Because we don't want six.
