GFI protection for bathroom light fixture?

Motor winding shorting to frame would be my guess. Unit could continue to operate fine. The frame is likely able to be touched. The analogous lamp failure would be envelope breaking and filament falling such that the supply shorts to frame, not likely to me. And, the lamp would no longer work.

BUT, I would expect the frame to be connected to the ECG, and the breaker clear the fault. Then again, motor coil inductance would probably not allow sufficient current. We need the GFI, thus ...
