GFI rattles

Unless it's the loose terminal or mounting screws, I have no idea why one would rattle.

I do seem to remember a rattle in the off position. Probably the linkage has slop in it. Since you found that many do it from different manufacturers, I wouldn't worry about it.

GFCI circuitry has a relay inside, maybe it's that?

But some plug-in breakers have a "floating" stab assembly so that it self-aligns. Get a standard breaker of the same make, see if that one rattles too.

The bus stabs on QO breakers definitely rattle when not installed.
