I used a tile saw to cut the bottle and it worked perfectly.

So the dielectric union fitting is acting as sort of a compression fitting on the neck of the glass bottle? Pretty cool use of easily available materials.

'Swageloc' type fittings can be had with teflon ferrules that work reasonably well on glass tubing; I was able to get vacuum tight fittings. But to make this work on a random beer bottle would be crazy expensive. Dielectric union from a big-box store: fantastic!

Well, just a union connection with a rubber gasket inside; it isn’t actually compressing from the outside.

I got the union fittings at Lowe’s for $11. That was a nice find.
