Hello,

I am being asked to get licenses in mutliple states for the company i work for, this includes Getting Master Electrican, Electrical Contractor and/or Low voltage licenses.
What is the going rate for holding licenses of different states - I do not want to over charge, but my name is going to be on all of these!!

Thank you for you input!!

Tony

if the principals cannot qualify themselves, you are in a good bargaining position.

if they can qualify, you might want to think about why they would want you involved at all.

They can not qualify; except for mayby the low voltage portions in a few states. Plus they suck at tests!

I don not know how it is in the states you are looking at, but in a fair number of places it is not legal to front for someone like this.

A principal often has to be the licensee.

if it is legal, charge them whatever you can get away with. It is probably not worth as much as you might think. maybe a few grand a year per state.

How big is the company and what can they afford to pay?

What is your position with the company? If you are a Project Manager or General Foreman with a large company then you may be in a good position to make some real money.

A small company may be doing jobs all over the place but still in no position to pay a lot.

I wouldn't ask for a percentage of profits, they can/will always hide that from you. Demand a lump sum up front (then quarterly installments as long as you hold the license), my company offers extra weeks of vacations (paid of course) rather than messing with accounting and salary adjustments.
