Why would this be any different then any other day?

The world is not all Christian
Being an Eastern Orthodox Christian, Good Friday for me is on 04-18-08 this year. I probably won't get that day off either. My boss is a real hard *** !!!

Surprised!

Surprised!

Surprised this post even lasted. The day equipment quits failing on "normal" holidays, will be a holiday in itself for me:cool:

Paid holiday; legal requirement.

If you want me to work today it has to be with my permission, at a minimum of time and a half and day off in lieu.

All the shops are shut, its peaceful bliss...

Tell that to the storm doors I had to replace today. A 12 pack and lunch suited me fine, but that was for my brother. Oh, that's right md, us nice guy's may be poor:wink: :D

I got called out.... someone felled a tree onto the poco over head wires took out the riser and meter pan original conductors were 1/0 CU for 200 amp service had to upgrade them 16 ft of riser with the running around and paperwork permit etc took me 7 hours charged it out for 1925.00 gee I like after hours and priority work :)

I don't normally work on Good Friday, but when people have needs that need to be met I work. On monday I landed a tanning salon that was to open today. the original "electricians" messed up the job. We completed the electrical last night at 10PM after working on that job and all the other scheduled work for the week. My guys are getting nice checks next Friday.

To answer Iwire, It is Good Friday which makes it different than any other Friday to Christians. There was a time I can remember that no one worked on Good Friday except emergency persons. If you want to know why it is good well it is good because the Lord suffered and died for the sins of man and salvation was made complete. Have a happy Easter.

That might explain the reasons why your boss does or does not want to make it a paid day off, even though we might have to work anyway. Thanks bikeindy, happy Easter to you.

I get these paid holidays:

New Year's Day

Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Good Friday

Memorial Day

Independence Day

Labor Day

Veterans Day

Thanksgiving Day and the day after

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

18 sick/personal days, Which I rarely take.

I Love It!
