Here is a clue for you, every phone made since the patriot act has a GPS on them... Every Nextel you can buy, lease, borrow or even steal has a GPS function and while there is a soft switch to turn it off, the owner of the account can turn it back on.

Yes, but it can be deleted from the device, I believe it can be password protected.

Gotta great story about GPS.
Back in the 90's a man with a local water company took the company truck on a little vacation for the weekend.
This hard working man had 29 years with the company.
A new supervisor hid a GPS under his seat and had him fired. He lost his pension.
This man went on to become the head supervisor for the water company. I wonder how he got that position. Many a back with a ice pick sticking out.
I just read in the paper he was arrested for receiving kickbacks for contracts.
Made my day.
