HO has a switched GFIC, GFIC is right next to switch that turns on bathroom lights. When the lights are on , the GFIC is turn on. I have seen this done in kitchens. Is this ok to leave as is or should the GFIC be separated from switch. I don't see anything wrong if left as is. Any opinions?

Existing Building code says you are not required to update, and it doesn't sound hazardous.
You could do some minor investigation by removing the plate. If it's an old box, it's original wiring, and someone upgraded to a GFI.
If it's a newer box, someone added it, and might have come off the switch, attaching to the switch leg instead of the hot conductor.
As you said, there's nothing wrong with leaving it as is.
