Dennis, do you buy those direct from the web or do you get them locally?

I called them and I got my supplier to set up an account with them. The owner can tell you where you can purchase them. BTW, they are coming out with ones that are good for carpet, in concrete etc. I like the product and they fixed the problem they had with the screws on the terminal.

Why put it in the top? Can you mount it in the sides. Here is a great product for cabinets, They are TR now and can be used in the floor as a floor outlet-- Cost less than $20.00. Sillites.com

Thanks Dennis. Just what I've needed for a number of custom kitchens where there's no room for a standard outlet box.

You're welcome. You can call DJ direct at 770 755-5654 if you have questions. He is very good at returning calls. Tell him I sent you and you are from the MH forum. He found us by googling sillites.

I'll repeat what I said in post 2 or 3: Whether one of these meets UL approvals or not... putting a flat into the surface receptacle in a countertop is just asking for trouble. Between crumbs and spills it isn't likely to keep working very long.

Bryan you cannot install these in the countertop. They are meant to mount on the side of the cabinets or in window sills. It is forbidden in countertops by 406.4(E)

Thaks for the info Dennis, I will be getting some of these asap. I can think of many places where I could have used these. I have one kitchen in the design phase where there is a wall of windows instead of a back splash.

Are the TR version the same size?

You're welcome...The units shown on the website are TR. I don't believe they have any of the others available. They actual have reduced the size of the recep. in this new design. I strongly recommend getting a bit as shown in 1 3/4" size

I use this bit for nothing else and keep it in the original plastic package to keep it protected.

How about a harwood floor... Does it come with a cover??
The little plastic cap is pictured to the right of the recep.

If you use the SCR, I believe you may run into a gray area (NEC 334.15) "if" the wire is exposed inside the island.

Usually it is behind draws or I have the cabinet guys build a small box around it. You could actually sleeve a piece of flex up to the connector to protect it.
