grey as an ungrounded conductor

Back in my day :D there were certain insulations that could not be produced in white. The best the manufactures could do was an "off-white" or "natural grey" which was referenced in the Code for many years as a permissible grounded conductor.
Since Grey and "natural grey" were not the same, during that era grey could be used as a phase conductor.

There are not likely too many Forum members left that worked with "natural grey" and soldered joints :D
