Grocery Store Violation

I spotted this out of the corner of my eye as I drove out of the parking lot of a local grocery store on Monday:
View attachment 867

I figured I must be seeing it wrong, otherwise it would have been fixed promptly, right? So I took a closer look on my milk run tonight and brought the wife's camera along as well... I brought it to a manager's attention. It will be interesting to see how long it takes them to fix it.

upon return from the store:
Me: "Check this out"
She: "I love you, but you are such a loser!"

My guess is one of two things will happen:
1) it will never get fixed
2) it will get fixed, but not have a GFCI or a bubble cover.

Get your own camera.

This latter thought crossed my mind... I actually have half a mind to go pull that other plug and put the three prong in there to see if I can trip it. [NO, I am not really going to do this:cool: ]

I'd wager that it's not on a GFCI CB, although that's been a requirement for how many years now??

Yeah, but you called him your friend, and you gave a code citation and all. Your response was much better. Gold star for Chris.

At some risk, because Bob got ill the last time, here goes:

Did you ever know that you're my hero,
and everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings.

Not that long my friend. 210.8(B)(4) was an 05 change.
Amazing... Just read through the ROP from the 2005 code cycle, looks like it was pretty contentious. My favorite comment:
I did not realize that there were two kinds of electricity on
general use receptacles. One type seems to be for dwellings, and the other for
nondwellings. The code now requires that some general use receptacles in
dwellings be GFCI protected, as they should be. But on the other hand, a mystery
type of protection, of which I am unaware of somehow protects the average
person in a public setting.
Priceless.:D

I once saw a lightpole in a home depot parking lot with the cover off at the base and all the wires hanging out. It stayed that way for months.
That happens often times by RVers, who tap into a light pole at night for "shore power".

I guess Darwin gets the ones that tap 277?;)
Do any RVing? Most of the bigger camping stores sell a buck boost transformer with a big selector knob for the amount of buck or boost. Does a fine job getting 208 up closer to 240 or 277 closer to 240.

Then they must be using a hot and EGC as any of the HDs I have worked on use straight 480 for the site poles.
That does seem to be the trend the last 10-15 years or so. Keeps the install cost way down too. I recently finished up replacing the handhole covers on a couple dozen poles in a shopping center that were stolen, and many of the connections were all boogered up. I was told by the custodian of the shopping center that they've caught numerous RVers over the years hooked up to the lights.
