I just installed (2) Disco Balls (NOT Disconnects!) and 6 lights, (3 Lts. on each ball). The owner supplied all the lighting material... and of course...it stinks! The lights are complete junk, & it didn't take long to convince him he needs "real" ones.
Does anyone know what type of light fixture & lamp works best for the Spinning-Disco-Light-Effect?!? :)

Yay, pinspots, PAR36. Or MR16s good too, as long as you get the narrow beam angle low voltage lamps; the wide beam angle lamps suck in this application, and the mains voltage lamps are dim and yellow.

If the HO wants to spend a bit more money, then rather than a Mac mover as suggested above, non-moving color changer looks good on mballs...

Dont forget to leave a little in the budget for an outlet for the fog machine.

LOL!
I didn't mention it but this has been an on-going project...
I've already installed:

50- 2x4 lay-ins w/ T-12 black lights
2- Lasers (Sound Activated)
3- multi-colored motion-lights!?
8- "Intimidator" lights
2- Disco Balls
6- (Crappy) disco lights!
1- Hazer (Fog Machine!)
60 Amp Sub-Panel to feed it all

It's all in a Bowling Alley...They have the "black light" bowling balls, pins, shoes, carpet and even table tops...everthing glows!... it looks pretty cool!:)

I just tried to make-shift my own light. You're right about needing a narrow beam! I guess I'll check out some pin-spots.

Thanks!

I have had this type of customer who wanted all this back to the 70s stuff for a haloween party. This is why I added the fog machine. Its a baby boomer thing sorry for the laughing because I am one.

There's also a bubble machine.

Does the bowling alley rent out bellbottoms with the bowling shoes?

MARCIA MARCIA MARCIA!!!

My mom once told me she had taken disco lessons. I asked what they taught her.

She started dancing and said "Dis go here, dis go there..."

Ba-da-boom!
