I have three questions about connecting the ATS to the existing service panel.

Current setup is I have a 200A meter service combo that is the main disconnect (neutral and ground is bonded) that feeds the main load panel via a 4/0 4/0 4/0 2/0 aluminum SER cable. Planned setup is to install the service-rated ATS next to the main meter service combo, leaving the 200A main service disconnect in place, running new cables from the service panel to the ATS utility load terminals. Then will run new wires from the ATS back to the service panel and splice them using UL service rated Polaris to the SER cable that feeds my load panel in the house.

Questions are:
- inspector says to leave the neutral and ground bonded in the ATS switch. My read on this is the ATS will be a subpanel to the main service panel and should not be bonded?

- what size ground wire (currently a 2/0 that runs to the load panel) do I need to splice from the ATS back to the interior load panel - use a 2/0 or will a #4 AWG be sufficient?

- can the ground wire that comes from the ATS switch and splices to the interior load panel be connected on the lug bar or does it need to be directly spliced to the 2/0 ground (and that cable removed from the lug bar in the service panel)?

Appreciate the thoughts.
