Hello,

Customer wants to install a new traffic gate with swing arms and security cameras. A 480V, 3phase circuit will feed a step down 480V:120-208V transformer for street lights, security equip, swing gate and general power. The transformer and comm's panel will be on the traffic island. Is the 480V power to the traffic gate require ground fault protection?

Please advise

Sorry, lets make sure we are talking about the same thing.
ground fault protection or ground fault protection for personell? They are not the same

yes sorry gfp for personel.other than dwelling units. To be clear the outdoor equipment is a mpz with transformer, low voltage comm's devices including a receptacle will be housed inside an NEMA-3R enclosure.

The receptacle can be GFP but does the 480V, 3Phase circuit feeding the transformer have to be GFP?

Nothing in 210.8 requires GFCI protection on a circuit operating over 150 volts to ground. (so far).
