I have been 30 yrs working industry, mostly controls and instrumentation and now that the kids are grown up I'm doing some residential work on the side. I'm doing a house for a friend of an in-law and it's in an area that gets frequent lightning strikes. Any suggestions on the ground system to use.It is a rural setting with a well of around 150 ft.The meter and a 200 amp breaker have already been installed at the pole which is about 80 feet from the house.
Appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks

Re: Ground System

I would feed the house with three wires from the 200 amp switch. Same as the utility company to a service.

Use all available ground electrodes(bonded) as the ground electrode system at the house.

Re: Ground System

I would like to install a ground ring around the foundation, and a ground grid.
I don't know why a ground ring requires a #2 cu minimum and a 200 amp service requires a #4 cu gec.I have never installed a ground grid and I need to do research on design.
