thank you steve66, unfortunately I am not quite clear yet. Are you telling me not to bond at the transfer switch or at the generator? Does it matter if my existing main downstream of the switch is still bonded? What if the transfer switch was after the main disconnect and does the code say where it has to go?

Re: grounding at transfer switch

Are you telling me not to bond at the transfer switch or at the generator?
Correct.

Does it matter if my existing main downstream of the switch is still bonded?
That is fine.

What if the transfer switch was after the main disconnect and does the code say where it has to go?
It's still fine.

1. Remove the bond at the genset and don't bond in the generator breaker or the xfer switch.

2. Install a 3-pole xfer switch for 3-phase or a 2-pole for single phase. Do not switch the neutral.

3. Your main service bonds are suffice for the bonding of your whole electrical system because they connect at the neutral bar in the xfer switch and are bonded in the service gear. No parallel paths exist this way.

You're good to go. Happy wiring. :)
