Grounding issue

I imagine the inspector in question feels it's his job to go to the site and help to keep the job moving along, not to look for ways to stop it.

I don't care how he feels, he needs to apply the law as it is wrote. I feel people like him, if that is how feels, needs to start reading up, on how electricians get injured, or die from some hack. Worse yet, honor a hack's efforts to do electrical work.

I try to be careful of hack work, but this rises beyond the mark of a hack! Think this inspector is the kind that get the inspection community a bad rap!

Actually while WE do not know this guy or what his overall track record is, based on this I would say this is the type of inspector many electricians love.

Sorry George, right now I am having an issue with an inspector. The inspector wants the pipes to be supported within 18 inches of a box. I raised all sorts of hell as to the stupidity of it, so maybe I'm a bit emotional right now. Like I told the company -show me 18 inches in the NEC, or as a state, county, or city addendum, and I will show you the same in the field! I then asked why it was considered acceptable to go the 5 foot exception (normally red iron "saving grace" move).

The foreman and the GF like the fact that they have someone one the crew that is cody savvy, so I help on code issues where I can.

Under the 2005 NEC that would not be a violation. The 05 required green for the EGC, but was not restricted from any other use. The 08 NEC restricts green to the EGC only.
