Grounding Nonmetalic Piping

New houses use nonmetalic water piping with metal hose bibs.
Is a hose bib near an electrical service required to be bonded to the main service grounding system?
 
No, an isolated copper hose bib is not likely to become energized and is not required to be bonded to the electrical service.

250.104 Requires bonding of metal water piping systems. A PEX system with metal stub outs is not a metal water piping system.
 
I don't understand why a gas pipe can be bonded by the equipment equipment grounding conductor and the water pipe cannot. What's the difference? I am talking about a metal water pipe system with plastic coming into the house.

I would BOND a metal water pipe system with plastic coming into the house. It wouldn't be a grounding electrode, but it should be bonded.

The OP was referring to plastic coming in and run throughout the residence except that the last foot or two at each termination would be copper. In that case I wouldn't bond.
