Grounding of dual secondary transformer to induction heating equipment

At the facility I work at, we have new induction heating equipment being installed. The rectifier is fed from a 5150KVA dual secondary transformer, one winding delta, the other wye. Primary voltage is 35.4KVac secondary voltage is 693Vac, ungrounded. Our engineering firm is using 2.4KV EPR cable with 5 sets of parallel 500MCM feeders for each phase and each set of windings. The grounds for each parallel set is also 500MCM type EPR cable, for a total of 20 cables per winding. This is routed through cable tray to the rectifier.
I have been asked if the 5 500MCM grounds may be reduced in size. I have been doing a lot of searching through the 2014 NEC, and frankly, I'm stumped. Is there someone who may direct me to the correct code section or can give me an answer to the above question.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
