I have always taken the ground wires in a receptacle box or switch box and twisted them together. After twisting them several times, I secure them using a wire nut. I have always done this and never have been given a correction for it. I recently did this and for the first time a inspector told me I couldn't use a wire nut. I had to crimp them. I was always under the impression that the code specified to secure them by mechanical means. Is using a wire nut acceptable?

niloe, could you please ask the inspector very nicely to quote the code section that requires this ?
