Grouped Disconnects

There doesn't seem to be a definition for "grouped", does there?

How far apart do you propose to put them? I'd say that the "within sight" and not over 50' would be a good rule to keep in mind, lacking other clear guidance from the code. I can see all kind of whacky possibilities coming from this.

I assume you're talking about outdoors? Mind you, if this is indoors, you can't go too darned far with unfused service conductors.

A good definition would be if you could operate both disconnects by standing in the same spot.

I dunno. I've installed the max 6 disconnects for some larger services (like retail and office, for instance) as compactly as reasonable and you still would have to walk several feet left or right to operate them all. Six disconnects for a service fed with primary might be 20 feet long or more.

How far apart can two main disconnects be & still be considered grouped?

Consult your AHJ. This is open to interpretation and will vary depending on the circumstances of the installation.
