I got one for you. H.O. wanted a portable standby generator for power outages. I installed an interlock kit, 30a breaker with inlet box and fiured my job was done......homeowner says the enclosure is coming the next day. What???? The H.O. bought a generator enclosure intended to house a standby genny unit and nothing was said in ANY prior discussion to me. Oh and he wants me to splice into the factory electric start and mount a start switch inside next to the panel. I now realized what this guy is trying to get.....a standby genny system but using a portable genny. He thinks it was the less expensive way to go.
So now I have an inlet box that will have a cord and plug to a service rated disco that (came on the enclosure) untill spring because the ground is frozen. Now keep in mind there is no wheels on the geny, it will be bolted down to the poly pad, and now lp fueled, that is bolted to the enclosure..........I have a perminent standyby generator system now. They H.O. is insisting that he might want to take the geny out to use around the yard in the future......I've gone full circle with this yahoo and I just needed to vent. The good thing is it's T&M......and I get to make it right in the spring. I'm not touching the remote start for the generator at all...if he wants the headache he can wire it.
