Had a first today....

I've been doing electric work since 1981. This past summer was the first time I stepped through a ceiling.

I charged $350 for the job I was working on. Materials cost $75 and the repair cost me $225. My repair guy had to make 5 trips to fix it so the patch matched the rest of the ceiling. The lady called me back for another job 4 months later because I took care of my mess and she liked my ceiling fan installation.

I did the same thing once as well, but caught myself on a cross member. Ceiling be damned, those splinters hurt.

A few years ago I was working A remodel . I was in attic making up a junction box, where the wall had been moved. I had my knees on one joist,
my toes on another. my toes slipped. Broke the sheetrock, but Thankfully I didn't fall through. Scared me out of a years growth !

I was working on some switches once and an apprentice fell through in the same room. His groin/ butt stopped him from going all the way through.
My reaction:
1. Totally surprised
2. made sure he was ok
3. Made sure nothing was seriously damaged except ceiling
4. roll around on the floor laughing for 5 minutes

Like a year later 2 different employees were working in the same house and one of the guys fell through too! I guess we are not used to being able to walk in attics out here!

I was working with a guy that did that too and got stopped the exact same way. He was about 5' 8" and 180 lbs though and had to go to the hospital to treat his swollen... uh... groin OUCH!!
