When making a new opening like the one with the picture and the bare bonding? conductor , I try to cut to the center of the stud, not to the edge of it. Roto zips are good for this. That way when the drywaller patches he has a margin to attach screws for his patch piece. The Irony of all this is that drywallers in general don't give a cr_ _ about any of my work, making it any easier for me, or if they destroy it using the same tool.
