A guy I worked with showed me a hand tool he had gifted to him at a trade show. It was a nonmetallic tool with a hook on one end and a wire nut twister in the center for working inside hot boxes so that you didn't have to reach your hand inside a single gang mudring with live wires inside. I forgot what else it did but anyways I was looking for one online and couldn't find it and I don't know the name of it. I was wondering if any of you have experience using one and what the heck the name of it is?!

Looks like a solution for a non problem.

It promotes an OSHA violation by working live.

Just last week was teaching the 13 YO grandson how to change duplex receptacles hot.

removal sequence: ground , white, black

install: black, white, ground

less chance of damaging your screwdriver with that sequence learned via 60 years or replacing outlets

Avoiding screwdriver damage is paramount :)

So do all those other tools with insulated handles.

Hot work is permitted in some situations, other PPE may very well still be required when doing so.

Not all people are bound by OSHA either, but still a good idea to take some precautions on hazardous tasks. If you are an employee, you are bound by OSHA, and your employer is also required to protect you, even if they aren't required to protect themselves.

There, fixed it for ya! :D

I may have turned one or two into scratch awls in my time.:ashamed:

I'd teach my kids how to de energize the circuit before doing live work.

At 1:44 in the video, go ahead and strip live 277V or 480V corner ground with conventional metal wire strippers (the same ones they eschew at 2:30), I'm sure nothing can go wrong with that...

And at 1:56, that is a seriously ugly termination on that Decora-type receptacle.

Neat tool if you need to, for some reason, work live, or cannot find or access the panel, but I'd rather intentionally ground the ungrounded* while prepared than accidentally do it working hot or become part of the circuit path.

*Yes, I know, horrible idea, but imo better than working hot with these ViOLaTion cLAW tools.

"I cant de-energize the circuit?"
~~"NO!"
"Okay..."

cough *accidentally* cough grounds out circuit

"Ooops! sorry..."

I plan on using it to land wires inside of a panelboard mostly. Some of the comments made me lol. :D I also don't like handling wires hot while leaning against a ceiling grid off of a ladder.....
