Can someone identify and Article that will allow me to determine minimum hand hole/pull box spacing? I seem to remember 400' being the minimum, but am not sure.

Thanks in advance,

Joe

Re: Handhole/Junction Box Spacing

It's not a code issue, but rather a design choice. I usually don't go more than 500 feet, without having a handhole, manhole, or other pull point in the middle. But the real issue is pulling tension on the conductors. That will depend on the size and type of the conduit, and on the size, type, and number of the conductors.

But you said "minimum distance." Are you asking whether you have to put them no less than a given distance apart? If so, that answer is "no." You could, if the owner were rich and excentric, have a 500 foot underground run, with a handhole every 5 feet. No good reason to do that, but nothing in the code would stop you.
