I of course occassionaly get a call to repair a fixture that seems to blow bulbs too often. Sometimes it's the bulb's fault, and when the customer stocks up he is replacing bulbs out of the same package. Sometimes vibration etc.
But sometimes it is the socket.

Does anyone have a source for the ceramic socket with threads on the outside to allow a lockring to hold the shade? Commonly found on lites hanging by the cord or a chain. These are to hold what I would call a standard base bulb.

By the way I meant to say lamps instead of bulbs but forgot, it's a habit formed by wanting the customer to know what I'm talking about.

Local lighting stores usually have 'em in stock. If not, they can readily order them.
My local liting and hardware stores have plenty of sockets, just none with the external threads, they claim they can't get them. One google search led to a factory in China, I don't want to buy a shipping container full of them.

Thanks for your suggestion, tho.
