Hard to believe

It's hard to believe, well it's not, but should be... this arrived in a rental order. It's even harder to believe that someone actually installed it!! The offending party was educated about at least giving things a once over before installation.

Just for all Us playing along at home, pondering when we might need that type of receptacle interface.

I can only think of a floor sander or a mobile generator that might use this type of plug.... maybe...

see the center pin? That's a 4 pole 5 wire as would be used for 120/208 or 277/460. I doubt the floor sander, but if you have a 208/120 generator, this has possibilities at home ....

That's an L21-20. Used to deliver a 3-ph 20a 120v MWBC for temporary power. Usually it connected to either a "booth stringer" (three inline Woodhead-like boxes) or a "doghouse" (3-duplex in one box). You can see examples of both at http://www.nutechindustries.com/dog.html.
