How much seperation is really needed between pvc conduit in regards to power and signal system installations - please advise

For properly designed systems, no separation. For badly designed or installed, no amount will help. Give us more specifics and we can give you more info.

Well im working on a ground up Auto shop and am currenlty installing the slab on grade on site - the engineer is asking for 6" seperation between the power and signal system conduits - in some areas however this seperation cannot be maintained and i just wanted to make sure that once i energized the power it wont interfer with the low voltage system ( telephone, data, speaker, fire alarm, security ) - i know that harmonics sometimes can cause minor problems - i would like to know what type of problems if any may occur and some solutions if that happens. any type of info. would be greatly appreciated.

IMHO, the likelihood of interference with properly installed systems is practically zero, however since the 'engineer' asked for the separation, you should bring it to their attention and let them decide what to do.
