Has anyone ever flush mounted a meter can?

I was told by a PG&E employee, while on a reconnect "you dont need to call us for disconnects, youre an electrician - you can crawl up here and cut the power, then get your final, then call us for a re-seal after it has passed"

I just looked at him like :-?

I have done service change outs without involving them till after final though. their "service" is lame to put it nicely.

I'de rather they did the disconnect, but then, we do have to live and work in the real world, not the one that the PG&E concocts over the telephone. I'm more than happy to do the disconnect and a temporary reconnect for them, and the HO's are very much happy with that too. And so is PG&E. It's almost like everybody wins exept I've never received a single check from PG&E, I guess their winning the most.

Edit: Oh, I wonder how they'd act if one of their transformers got toasted (I can't think of how that might happen) and they had 7 buildings without power and then actually had to do something.
