Is it permissable to install heat trace cable with teflon tubing and wrapped together with fiberglass tape in HDPE conduit? If so, is it found in the NEC?

Look at it this way Gary....you posted at about 11:30pm on a Saturday night...here it is 12 hours later (11:30AM on a Sunday morning)...let the people come back from church/recover from hangovers and see what happens. :)

George or Pierre or Iwire will *probably* have an answer :)

First I would read the installation instructions for the heat tape. If there are no prohibitions, I would look to the temperature rating of HDPE which I believe (from memory) is 122 degrees F. If the heat tape does not violate this, and the instructions do not say no... maybe???

I have never seen this done. What are you attempting to perform with this installation?
Where is this installation (it would have to be outside and underground)?

what would be wrong with such an installation?

anything not specifically prohibited is allowed.

this is a pretty common way of heat tracing and insulating sample lines.

Sounds to me like a good way to comply with 427.11.

The conduit could be considered an additional form of protection, so I don't think you are limited to its temp. rating. In other words, you aren't using the HDPE for its intended purpose.
