We are doing a hospital addition.

Is it permissable to rough in under a slab on grade with PVC ( in stead of meatal conduit) in patient care areas if a redundant ground is pulled in the PVC?

To me, 517-13 says no.

GRS in slab or use EMT or HFC cable in walls and ceiling.

sorry, meant to say HCF cable which is basically MC cable with the armor rated for grounding.

Jim is correct, read 517.13(A), there is no exception for Patient Care Areas.

Intent is redundant ground paths - metallic conduit AND seperate ground wire.

HCF is Type AC cable, not MC cable.
