Just got the renewal for health insurance. Went up $438.00 a month to $1910.00.

I don't even know what to say about this.

It sickens me that this happens every year. In the last two years the premium has almost doubled, the co-pays and prescriptions have gone up and the quality of service has gone down, way down.

I don't kow how I can afford this anymore but I do know I will be doing ALOT more cash work.

I know most will say "Just pass it on to the customer" but save your breath. They are not paying it.

Why are employers are in the middle of health insurance?
Does the employer do auto insurance too? Home/fire insurance?

The time is well passed to make the changes we need to have.
(Let's just hope the cure isn't worse than the disease)

Small companies (like most EC's) are the economic engine of the country, the ones who do most of the hiring... how can anyone rationalize operating at an imposed deficit against the large companies being good for business?

Group rates V individual rates. We are looking into a policy that has the rate benefits of a group plan but none of the restrictions we are going to help subsidize the payment but employees will have an option of self paying for added benefits.

My wife and I are in the process of changing companies right now, and we are getting prices between 400-900/mo for the two of us, with deductables ranging from 1000-2500-5000-10000. We are currently paying $726 for Cobra from my previous employer...

While we may not be able to control all that happens to us, we can control what happens inside us. God heals and the doctor takes the fee. Nothing is more fatal to health than an over care of it.

I always wondered what would happen if we (U.S.) actually did the same as canada with universal health care?? I hear both good and bad. This is one of the main reasons I still work for an employer, they pay for most of medical, denta etc.. Electrical trade can take its toll, and its good to have good insurance.

Dont have the facts, but I've heard that Canada's income tax is like 50%, and they have social medicine.....Not sure if that's a good deal or not.

Being self employeed, is more expensive for sure, but well worth it.....well at least when times are good......

I was paying about $800/month for a "traditional" plan (with co-pays and deductibles) and went to a HSA (Health Savings Account). Monthly premium is around $300, I'm responsible for the 1st $2,700/year and after that I'm covered 100%. That works out to $525/month max out of pocket for everything. So far so good, let's see what happens when I go over the $2,700.

If you added upall of the hidden taxes we pay and being taxed after taxes have already been assesed we are well over the 50% mark.
Taxed on money already diluted by taxes being brutally taken out.
That 8.5 sales tax after 30% fed + state taken out is really 12.15% sales tax. I think they should call it like it is. man up and stop trying to sugar coat the crap they are feeding us.
I think the Mass guys had a tea party a few years ago in reference to this same problem.
Federal tax, State tax, Fica tax, Property tax, Sales tax, Gasoline tax, Road usage tax, Dont forget Insurance, Health insurance ,Car insurance ,Homeowners insurance, Windstorm insurance, Flood insurance.
Vetrinarians are not much if any cheaper than human doctors

When I was layed off for a short time my COBRA payment would have been $1,550.00 per month.

So ....

Unemployment approximately $2500 per month, take away 1550 for insurance and that would leave me with about $950 per month to pay mortgage, electric, oil, phone, truck insurance, gas and oh yeah ........... food.
