With a little more info about the type of pool, I could answer more specifically. However, most electrical equipement around a pool is required to be GFCI protected. Not to mention proper grounding and proper bonding.

Only cord and plug connected equipment supplying permanantly installed pools require GFCI protection according to the NEC.
