Hello< I talked with a poco worker here in Ca that used to do that & he said he didnt get paid any more than any other poco job would get paid. He was glad to be able to transfer to safer job.
 
Anyone know how the electricity arcs between the probe and the high tension cable? I thought the probe would have to be grounded to arc like that, but obviously can't be true or else he would be toast.
 
It is like equalizing charge after rubbing your feet on a dry winter day on a rug, then touching your favorite freind. It arcs.
It happens to me and my car every dry winter day.

I wonder if he got paid for travel time to the jobsite? :D

I have watched a show on history channel about these guys. I don't care how much training you have the first time to tie on to that cable will sitting outside the chopper as got to be the scariest ever
 
that looks like such an awesome job. i was always interested in line work. those linemen are so brave its incredible. one slip and there fried. too bad the power company is hard to get in
