Cheap and good manufact. of single conductors. Can't wait to hear the answer for this one!

You may want to read his profile.

There are many reputable wire manufacturers. You probably need to contact a few suppliers and see what prices you can get. Perhaps you are looking to buy direct???

well, its going to be highly dependant on quantity. I know Homedepot pretty much tells southwire what they will pay, and it would be a safe bet that southwires margins on what they sell to homedepot are very low. I would think that unless you are buying a couple million feet, you arent going to get any sort of special deal beyond standard qty discounts.

The item that you are looking for is a standard commodity, and you should be able to negotiate pricing with any of the standard suppliers. I have never dealt with the sort of quantities that required going directly to the manufacturer, so I can't provide any experience there.

Names of manufacturers that come to mind are 'Southwire' and 'American Insulated Wire'. An index such as the Thomas Register http://www.thomasnet.com is your friend; they have a 'Building Wire' as a category.

I suspect, however, that you may not be familiar with what you are looking for, which is probably getting you into trouble. Most common building wire is type THHN, and if you want common 12ga wire, that is what you should be searching for. However most if not all THHN is also rated 'THHW' or 'THHW-2'. If you find something rated 'THHW-2', that means that it meets all of the specifications of THHW, and additionally can operate at up to 90C (regular THHW is limited to 75C in wet conditions). If the wire is _stranded_, then it may also be rated MTW. You will often find labels on the spools that say things like THHN/THWN/THWN-2/MTW......
