I purchased a voltage converter, assuming my European Kenwood mixer would be 230v, but it did not work, and upon closer examination, the two poles on the plug are thicker and though they fit in my converter, it did not bring my mixer to life. what can I do? Are there converters for this voltage? didn't see any on Amazon, and I just blew 80 dollars on this adapter that failed me. (box thrown out, no refund for this dumb girl). Please help me with some options. Thanks!!!

Why did you buy a European mixer?

Electronics products from Europe can usually operate from 120 volt receptacles by just using an adapter that converts the European plug to ours. Nothing more involved because the equipment will operate on 120 volts just as well as 240 volts. I believe that's the kind of adapter you bought. However with motorized equipment like your mixer it's not that simple. Most will require 230 or 240 volts and there is no kind of plug adapter that can do that.

Do you live in your own house? Reason I ask is that we do have 240 volts available in most houses along with 120. So it might be possible for an electrician to provide a 240 volt receptacle in your kitchen for that mixer. (Matter of fact we had someone here even install a European receptacle in their kitchen for some 240 volt equipment.)

If you wouldn't be able to do that, the only other option is a transformer that will make 240 out of 120. Depending on the size (wattage) of your mixer it could be rather large and expensive.

Sometime it pays to sell European equipment on Ebay, take the loss and buy the American equivalent. You can come out loosing less money than making a European model work.
