I was looking at a mfg. site for amp rating on generators and need some help with how they came up with the rating.

120/208v 3ph 30kw pf.8 the mfg. has 104 amp
my numbers came out at 83.3
30000/208/1.73
30000/208= 144.2 144.2/1.73= 83.3
What am I doing wrong or dose the PF come into play and if so how?

Yes Pf comes into play, you are using the kW rating, kW=kVA*pf. So do your numbers again using Pf and you will get 104A.

You need to use the power factor in your formula.

I = KW x 1000 \ E x PF x 1.73

I = 30 x 1000 \ 208 x .8 x 1.73
I = 104.21
