:rolleyes: I searched the archives and couldn't find my answer.... I know that in hospital and some commercial applications, receptacles are installed with "ground up", while other perhaps less-informed persons say, "their in backwards !!". I know the concept and thinking that "ground up" prevents accidental short circuiting of a conductive path "touching" a partially installed plug, but does NEC address this issue??

Nope it does not, thats why its a big debate... at least for some...:grin:

You searched the archives for "ground up"!!!! I'll bet the lights dimmed in Calif. or wherever the server is. :)

There have been dozens if not hundreds of threads on this. For starters, try the "Frequently asked questions" at the top of the NEC forum.
