A customer has a process that on occasion will overheat and cause some fire damage. Containable but it still causes some down time, plus the local FD gets tired of making calls. We are doing a lot of updating to the controls and they asked if they could have a thermostat in a duct. While searching for a suitable location, I find the old hi limit that hasn't been used since a fire back in ???, all ID marks gone. Hopefully we find one that will work this time.

Can someone point me to a manufacturer that has a variety to chose from? We will be checking for air temps of around 200 degrees. Setable with not readout necessary.

The stuff will burn, glow, but it requires a lot of air flow to make it spread or burn quickly. Kind of like blowing on a punk. Stop the air flow and it just about puts itself out. In that condition is not hard to control. Hi limit is to shut the fans down. Smoke detection would be nice but I am not redesigning the wheel here and if they say temp limit is enough, that is what they get.
 
We used to use Fenwal duct temperature switches for fire detection in exhaust ducts at a metals plant. They were cost effective and worked. Don't know if they still make them.
