Re: High Leg grounded conductor current?

The formula is called vector analysis.
Basically we are adding a 5A load at phase angle 0, and a 10A load at phase angle 90.
(I rotated Ronald’s diagram to make the math/angles simpler for analysis)
The math ends up somewhat easy for the magnitude: sqrt( 5^2 + 10^2 ) = 11.18A
You can also calculate the phase angle of the resultant current: inv.tan(2) = 63.4 deg.

The familiar equation: sqrt(a^2 + b^2 + c^2 – ab – bc – ca ) also comes from vector analysis using “a” at 0 deg., “b” at 120 deg., and “c” at 240 deg. and only calculating the magnitude.

you have the point and you may be correct, i will go over my engineering calculation for vectors I forgot already its been a ong time.
this kind of problem need vector analysis for we are not dealing with in phase curent but rather asymetrical.
i will let you know after i review my notes.
