This has been discussed before, but I want to know the reasons against using a 1-pole breaker to get 208V to a piece of equipment. This particular application is in a QO panel.

Do you have a single pole CB rated for 208 volts?

Paul, I believe the reason for this not being allowed is that single pole breakers are only rated for 120 volts.The 240volt rating is when they are ganged together.Hence the rating 120/240.
