Hi guys, I've got a couple of questions combined into one post.
1. Basic insulation level (BIL): if I am specifying a surge arrestor as part of the switching mechanism (a recloser in this case) do I need information from the circuit supplying the gear in order to choose the BIL of the cutouts, insulators, etc? Can I choose the surge arrestor to be rated such that choosing those other components is dependent only upon the arrestor criteria?
2. Porcelain vs polymer - besides weight savings, any thing else to consider? I've yet to get quotes but I'm assuming polymer is more expensive. True? Not true?
3. Is a cutout normally provided for the neutral/ground?
3a. On a utility line, is the grounded conductor referred to as neutral or ground?
Thanks all for the feedback!
