Growing up and working as an apprentice in the business all I ever used was AC (bx) carrying it up flights of steps in those old.brown stones I don't miss that but also AC can be used inside in concrete brick or plaster walls not subject to moisture and in certain neighborhoods we have a lot of that I'm the old.buildings

You are using the wrong tool for the ceilings. Get yourself one of these.

I have one. It works great for bottom-plate drilling, too. With a short auger, it lets you drill exterior walls and still angle the hole toward the inside a bit to avoid the band joist.

if anybody would know it would be you guys I'm reluctant to buy a cordless hole hawg right angle drill whatever you want to call it how are they really against the corded ones

I mostly use the Milwaukee cordless hole hawg.
My best cordless is my 36v DeWalt drill (and matching reciprocating saw). 3 speed transmission, hammer function, adjustable/bypassable clutch, reversible, as strong as a corded tool, and good battery life.

I was skeptical at first too. My first thought was it would be geared down and slow, but it actually even spins faster than the corded on high speed. Only two disclaimers are 1). You want a good battery. Your two year old ones won't give great performance. 2). If you run into some of that really old hard wood, you might want the corded drill. It will do a 2" self feed in regular new lumber fine.

I can't justify the money honestly I've never had a problem with the corded and never been on a job where there wasn't a generator provided by the GC for the trades . that drill is just a beast maybe I'll pick up the cordless version to just show off on the job

I don’t blame you. Stick with your corded drill and keep making money!

Fify.

I've never had the need for a big cordless drill. By the time I'm ready to go 'hog-wild' drilling holes, the temp service is up and running.

well, if it's anything like porta bands....

i have two deep cut porta bands, both by milwualkee.
one corded, one the 18V. fuel model.

the 18volt cuts faster than the corded one.
batteries last a good long while.

i sold the corded one a year ago to a friend of mine.
i never used it after the 18v. appeared. not even once.

The cable I'm using now I got for free from a buddy of a job, it's 12/2 with a full size in insulated ground I've never seen that before I'll post a pic tomorrow

If you get set up with the cordless with the quick lock Chuck and get all the 7/16 stuff to match, its a dream....

That's MC cable, not AC cable or "BX" as you call it. It's a similar but different animal than AC cable.
