Hello everybody!

I am looking for a few resources and suggestions for hollow block anchors (shield type).

What is everybody using for brands and settings tools….

Thanks!

I prefer adhesive anchors from Hilti or Simpson. I was installing large Hoffman enclosures on hollow block. We had kit all the different sizes. The adhesive was injected in to a screen tube where it expands on the inside, didn’t matter if it was a void or web. We drill holes, put in screen tubes, hold cabinet up with material lift, insert adhesive and anchors.
You just need to have other work while adhesive sets up, less than 1 hour
These cabinets were min of 24x36, 12 deep and were prewired.
Now for strut or panel boards, toggle bolts or togglers are ok
I don’t like lag shields they don’t work well in hollows.
Call Hilti have them come by your shop for a demo, have a concrete block to try anchors on

I usually use made in USA toggle bolts for hollow walls. Never use toggle bolts made in cheating lack of quality control china. Had way too many strip out while not even fully tightening. Found out the rectangular piece is less then halve the thickness of real deal Rawl or other quality made in USA toggle bolts. Awhile back complained to my supply house about the cheating china toggle bolts they sold me. They stopped selling china toggle bolts along with paper thin china flat washers.

For hollow block if you know where the solid parts of the block are (the ends or center on two cell blocks) you can use just about any concrete anchor. If on the hollow then we typically use toggle bolts. For something like gypsum block toggles are the only real solution.

These lead anchors are by far my favorite for hollow wall medium duty applications, (Dottie MA5 drop in lead anchors). Been using them for years. I’ve mounted small transformers, disconnects, small panel boards, strut for conduit supports, and myriad of other things.

Had the same set tool since it my journeyman gave it to me in 2007. Typically come to accept 1/4” or 3/8” bolts but you’ll need a set tool for each.

I still have my Greenlee set tools for these from years ago. These are great for mounting equipment to cinderblock walls.
