I have connected a new duplex receptacle at the end of a GFI circuit, load (black) wire to gold termianl, netural (white) wire to silver termianl, and bare ground wire to ground terminal. Before I connected the receptacle I tested for powrer with a 2 terminal test light and had power between the netural and load wires. Next I connected the receptacle as described above. I stick the test light prongs in the rceptacle and the test light lights. Next I stick my 2 prong christmas lights in the receptacle and they do not light. I get a radio with a 2 prong plug, test it to make sure it works on another receptacle on the same GFI circuit. Then stick the radio 2 prong plung in the receptacle I changed and it does not work ! All along checking to be sure the GFI did not trip or the CB.
Does anyone have a clue as to what the heck is going on here?
