there is at least one violation no one has mentioned yet......
Is it that the main breaker isn't locked?

I'll say the romex connector on the left that is only being used as a knockout seal.

Or no bushing on the pipe comming in.

Re: home owner permit

Dave, you keep this up, I'm going to have to post a panel of mine to get a good laugh. :D

It looks to me as though none of the romex is secured within 12" of the box.

As for connector overfills, I am going to keep my mouth shut. I'm not going to say that I would rather overfill a non-metallic connector a touch to keep romex from entering at the face of the panel, than to risk Mr. Rotozip from severing the homeruns at the edge of the panel.

And once again, he boldly clicked the "add reply" button and began hiding under his desk like a coward.

Re: home owner permit

The box clearly says "DO NOT OPEN".

Doesn't that make it kind of hard to follow the manufacturers labeling instructions :D

Reminds me of the instructions printed on the inside of the door of my clothes dryer:

1. Load clothing, close door.

Now what?

Re: home owner permit

When I call my Doctor's office for an appointment, the recorded greeting begins with, "If this is a life threatening emergency, please hang up and dial 911." I always wondered whether anyone would obey the "hang up" command before getting around to hearing the "dial 911" part. :D

Re: home owner permit

Now Jim we all now that some of the highest paid burger flippers and french fry experts are from McD`s.

Our rule of thumb is 1st smell for cooking oil.Second is check for palm burns from the dummy that layed his palms on the grill to see if it is hot. :D
If any of the above are present hit the road Jack.

Re: home owner permit

Scott,
You found the missing bushing! There were no bushings anywhere.

George,
Good catch! None of them were stapled between the panel and the holes in the joists.

Also, there is only 3 conductors coming in from the disconnect at the meter!

Now what do we do about cable fill in these many different brands of connectors?
How do we call, 2 is max or 3 or 4? There is no way we are going to look for the brand and then look up the rating!

Which means what? Fail unless proven passable? Upon whom is the burden of proof?

Ok first site the code for the 1 missing bushing. It is plastic M A .Now just where else do you see a bushing maybe required ?
Now how are we to figure there is a disconnect from that picture ? Could just be a meter so no extra wire required.
As to how many permitted per connector !!!! well thats up to you to do the paper work.Your the inspector so either look it up or let it go.How can you right up what may or may not be a violation.Look it up or back off. GEE will that plastic MA cut into the wire and short it out.So far your score is zero. His might not be great work but site the violation that can stick.

Re: home owner permit

Jim,

As in the past, you are trying to make this personel. You must have a big problem with authority figures in your life and no respect for yourself.

Why not keep to the subject at hand and leave your chip on your shoulder at home.

In short, grow up.

Re: home owner permit

Roger i never said i never turned out a panel this poor. But at same time never would call this neat. When time permits my panels look great and i sign them.Once let a helper make up a panel and he asked me what i thought of it.I told him i thought it looked great, all wires nicely stripped , squired off.tie wrapped. His remark back was" coming from you that's a real complement".I am known as a hard a$$.After that i let him make up all he wanted.

Re: home owner permit

Sorry Jim you took it out of context. The young of today are not at 3,4,5,6 years from now they only see today. For the most part that is.
I had the greenest of green helpers in 01 he was going to quit go flip burgers whatever. At lunch he asked me what i made when i started in this trade.I told him $1.45/hr.His eyes bugged out.Why did you stay he asked.Simple Eric when I learn what I need to move on I can ask for what I think I am worth while a burger flipper still gets the same $$ ;)
Last year he flagged me down and bought me lunch and thanked me.Told me if it was not for that talk that day friday was going to be his last day as a flunky gopher. We then went to a home he was doing,I saw my work in that house, neat, flat,As i always told him don`t care if drywall covers it.Go home and know you did your best that day ;)
