Homemade Wire Carts

Here's a last-ditch method, if you're really and truly desperate for a wire cart:

Take a stick of 1/2" EMT, cut it into thirds (40" each).

Take two of the pieces and put back-to-back 90s on each end and install box connectors on the ends.

Now take two 4x4 (4", 4sqaures, 1900, 190, 189, 232, whatever you call them) boxes and remove 2KOs in each one on adjacent sides.

Put one bent EMT into one of the KOs, the other in the adjacent KO, and do the same at the other end with the other box.

When you set this on the ground, the two bent pieces of EMT will be at 90? to each other, and the box will be at a 45? in respect to the ground.

Now remove the center KO of the 'back' of the boxes, and push the third piece of pipe through.

Hopefully your imagination will work on this one.

wire cart

We bend and weld re-bar. Drill a hole in the end and insert a nail. Cheap and it works great for our service trucks. Small and compact

Great idea! I'm going to have to make one of those now. :)

Don't get too fond of them: Those I've made never last long. They're really, as I said, a last-ditch method when nothing else is available. They're also a pain to haul around, especially if you've got it loaded down with wire. And they don't last too long bouncing around in the truck or from job to job.

Sorry I'm late posting back, working out of town sucks sometimes.
I forgot to take pictures before I left Friday but I'll take some Monday and post them.
The cart is made from 1 5/8 strut, has fixed & swivel castor's, holds 12 1000' spools of #12 THHN. When the project is finished I have a little re-engineering to do, but the best thing is it only took 1 1/2 hours to make and can be disassembled for easy storage in my van.
Oh yea cost was under 100 bucks

Sorry I might need pic of that one

I use a small painters scaffold with wheels, a couple pieces of rigid, and some bailing wire to tie the rigid in place, after that your good to go! You can also put the planks on the top rack and use it to hold extra wire, tools, food, drinks, etc. By the way they sell a similar one at the crepo.
