Then you'd be in a very small minority. There's about a ba-jillion ordinary face up receptacles on top of mantles out there. I was going to say something but now I understand what everyone is saying by horizontal. I thought you meant horizontal, not face up. I have mounted receptacles in the back splash of counters in the horizontal position but never face up. Ya'll had me worried there.
